Frequently Asked Questions

How did Vee design get its Name?

You can make up your own story, but it has something to do with the number five.

Why use a Landscape Architect?

Landscape Architects could be best understood as the “general practitioner” of the built environment design industry. Landscape Architects coordinate and consider all aspects of the built environment to deliver holistic and integrated design solutions that address all issues and maximizes all possibilities. Landscape Architects drive the vision; draw on the expertise of all other built environment disciplines, balance function with aesthetic and take ownership of the final outcomes. Landscape Architects manage the collective design outcome.

How does Vee design differ from any other Design Practice?

We could say our great design, or our great service, but we would sound just like every other designer out there. We truly believe our difference is in our genuine passion to deliver great outcomes for our clients and the communities for whom we design. A simple purpose that drives all that we do, and when our clients share in this same passion, that is where the magic happens. Try us and make up your own mind on why Vee design is different to all others.

How big is Vee design?

We consider ourselves “Boutique”, with all the experience and knowledge of a large office together with the personalized senior service and innovative thinking you expect from a small practice.

How does Vee practise innovative design?

It is a misconception that innovative design is the result of one person (with years of design experience) sitting alone in a corner waiting for that magical aha moment.
Innovative design is the result of true collaboration between client, designer, engineer, contractor and other key specialist contributors (with varied backgrounds) in which all usual practices, standards and assumptions are challenged.
We have many techniques and tricks to realising innovative design outcomes by harnessing the groups’ creative thinking, then exploring and testing options over and over again to achieve innovative conceptual design solutions for your review.

What projects do Vee design get involved in?

We are a practice of qualified landscape architects with a passion for delivering projects that make a difference in people’s lives. We work on both large scale and small scale projects, from master planned communities and new city design in China, through to small community projects such as playground, schools or a new Anzac memorial for the local chamber of commerce, and everything in between – we love a challenge. Have a look at our folio to see some of our profiled projects.

What if we already have a Landscape Architect?

We understand that it is a big step deciding on a new design practice, so why not sample our service with a peer review on one of your existing projects or allow us to prepare a preliminary design concept for your new project; this way you get a feel for us and we get a feel for you. We guarantee you won’t be disappointed.

What is it like to work with Vee design?

In nutshell: “fun but professional”. We don’t take ourselves too seriously but we are passionate about our projects and very serious about delivering the best outcomes for our Clients and the Community. Our team are our family, and we treat our clients the same way. We build relationships with our staff and our clients that we hope will last a lifetime.
As Steve Jobs once said “Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do.” We think Steve was on the money.

What is Vee design’s fee structure?

We believe we provide great value and work with Clients that understand that the added value and savings we offer on our projects greatly outweigh the price of our service. While our fees may not the cheapest, they are definitely not the most expensive.
We have a saying at Vee design – “great service ain’t cheap and cheap service ain’t good”.
There is a number of easy ways we can do a little work together first, so you can experience our service, before committing to an ongoing relationship; just ask us how.

How to get help with your project?

Just ask! Sounds simple but just give us a call or drop us an email. We love sharing our knowledge and know how to make your project a success.

What’s the design and delivery process?

The final illustrative design drawings are often what gets presented and seen, but the true value and beauty of design is in the journey you take from inception to final construction. We encourage our clients to contribute and take ownership in the design by being involved and contributing through its evolution, at every step of the way.
Every project has its own unique set of characteristics and every client has their own set of priorities, therefore our delivery approach to every project is tailor made to suit. However, the fundamental framework for delivering a successful project is essentially the same.

  1. Visualise: with you we define the Project Vision with the brief
  2. Understand & Analyse: we interrogate the Opportunities & Constraints
  3. Experiment: we explore Conceptual Design options
  4. Refine: we test and polish the design through Design Development
  5. Document: we communicate the design into a set of Construction Documents that allows the design to be constructed
  6. Construction: we guide the realisation of the design into built form, making sure the vision meets reality
  7. Evaluate: post completion, we visit the project to evaluate and learn from how people are using it, what is working and what is not working.

What happens if I do not like the design solution?

Well, if we have done our job correctly you will love the design solution we prepare for you. Because we have listened to your needs & desires, assessed the opportunities and constraints of the site, developed a vision that you adore, presented you a number of design options for you to consider, and worked with you every step of the way. If there is any aspect of the design you are not 100% in agreement with, we will happily review. We love being challenged and tested on our designs. Design is a journey and we encourage all our clients to be active participants.
